SolidSX Radial Diagram Visualization Tool

Solid Source eXplorer (SolidSX) presents high-quality radial diagram visualizations that simultaneously reveal the structure, dependencies, and metrics on all types of source code elements (files, classes, methods, data members, etc.). By using hardware-accelerated graphics, SolidSX is able to display large amounts of information in a clear and concise manner and provides fast and easy exploration through large source code bases.

SolidSX uses plug-ins to import dependencies and metrics from different sources. We currently offer three plug-ins:

  • a .NET importer that allows you to analyze Microsoft .NET assemblies (.exe,.dll, etc). All .NET programming languages are supported, including C#, Visual Basic, and Visual C++.
  • a Java importer that allows you to analyze Java source code.
  • a BSC importer that allows you to analyze C and C++ code that is compiled using Microsoft Visual Studio.

Flexible and powerful visualization

SolidSX:

  • can work as a stand-alone Windows application, but also comes with a plug-in to seamlessly integrate into Microsoft Visual Studio. By integrating into Visual Studio, you can navigate between source code and visualization with the click of a button. (NOTE: Requires Visual Studio 2008 Standard edition or higher, and is supported only with the .NET plug-in)
  • accepts an open input data format, making it possible to display data generated by third-party tools. (NOTE: SolidSX is not restricted to visualizing only sofware, but can also be used as a generic structure and dependency viewer. See the SolidSX User Manual for more information.)
  • is extremely easy to use: just point and click in the radial diagram, and popup menus list your options
  • is ready to use in less than 5 minutes (including installation)
  • can explore large databases of tens of thousands of elements in real time, from large packages down to individual variables
  • uses hardware-accelerated graphics for high quality presentation and smooth navigation

SolidSX enables you to see:

  • call graphs, class inheritance, type usage, field accesses, and various code metrics, such as method complexity and number of casts
  • information from .NET assemblies (.exe, .dll) in a manner similar to .NET Reflector

SolidSX comes as a generic structure / dependencies / metrics visualization application, and can be specialized for a given programing language via importer plugins. These are available for .NET (all languages), Java, and Visual C++ (BSC format only ). SolidSX also works with other Vizlogix products, such as SolidFX, SolidSDD, and VizXpressor.
