Tutoring Services

In a competitive world that relies upon increasingly complex technology, the importance of students to be able to achieve a basic understanding of computers has never been greater than it is now. I am able to offer tutoring in various aspects of computer software development. My specialties are as follows:

• Basic Web Development: HTML, CSS (Cascading Style Sheet), Content Management Systems (CMS), domains, hosting, editing and uploading your work
• Intermediate Web Development: Javascript, MySQL
• Basic Programming and Software Development: Programming, PC and general computer instruction
• Intermediate Software Development: C, Pascal, revision control
• Advanced Software Development: Object-Oriented Design and Programming, C++

My philosophy is simple: to coach and encourage your student as he or she develops the confidence to program a computer or set up a website. Even if your student has no plans to become a professional software developer, he or she will at least be able to achieve good grades in any required programming classes, learn to set up his or her own website, and fix problems in his or her programs. Yes, learning to program will help your student solve complex problems, which is a good life skill for anyone to have!

Why Me?

Why should you have me tutor your student? Here is a brief list of my qualifications and background:

• BS, Computer Science (Penn State University)
• Over 20 years of industry experience
• One year teaching two classes of 9th graders about Earth Science (if I can do that with both teacher and students surviving, I have the patience to help your son or daughter)
• Church youth group chaperone experience

I am married to a graduate of Grove City College's elementary education program, and my wife and I parent eight children of our own.

Rates

My rates will be determined by a number of factors as follows:

• How far I need to travel to meet with you
• The level of skills being taught
• Level of student education
• Class size

Based on the factors above, my hourly rate ranges from $30 to $50 per hour, and possibly more to handle special circumstances.
